Markets and market stalls in Sassari: days, locations and what to find

Whether you’re shopping for groceries, getting to know local producers or browsing objects from the past, Sassari’s markets and market stalls offer a range of experiences. To choose where to go, it helps to distinguish between the covered market, weekly markets and antiques markets.

Mercato Civico: shopping in the historic centre

The Mercato Civico, at piazza Mercato 6, is located between viale Umberto, via Mercato and piazza Mercato. It’s a place to buy fruit, vegetables, fish, poultry and meat.

The municipal listing gives opening hours as Monday to Friday, 8 am to 2 pm, and Saturday, 8 am to 3 pm. However, there is conflicting information about Friday: an earlier notice from the municipality says the market closes at 3 pm that day too. To plan your visit, it’s best to go in the morning and check directly whether opening hours are extended.

Piazzale Segni: Monday market

The market at piazzale Segni takes place on Monday mornings. It includes food and non-food sections, as well as spaces for agricultural businesses.

It’s a good option if you want to combine grocery shopping with a stroll among the stalls. The exact hours listed by different sources don’t match, so it’s best to plan your visit for the morning rather than rely on a single closing time.

Via Tempio: the Tuesday market

The municipal calendar lists a weekly market on via Tempio on Tuesdays, with spaces for non-food vendors and agricultural producers.

The area was reorganized under a plan approved in December 2024, so older information about the number and layout of the stalls may no longer be accurate. It’s advisable to check the current hours and the exact locations of vendors before visiting.

Corso Vico: food, farmers and crafts

The market on corso Vico takes place on Fridays from 8 am to 2 pm, along the tree-lined avenue between piazza Santa Maria and piazza della Stazione.

The stalls offer food, farm produce, and creations by craftspeople and hobbyists. News reports published in October 2026 document the market and the arrival of craft exhibitors.

Campagna Amica: Saturday with local producers

At Emiciclo Garibaldi, the Campagna Amica market is listed by the organization as taking place every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, year-round.

It showcases local agricultural produce. Categories listed include fruit and vegetables, cheese, oil, honey, cured meats, eggs and wine. Check the stalls for the availability of individual products.

Antiques and second-hand goods: two Sundays, two squares

The regular schedule for the antiques market is as follows:

  • First Sunday of the month: Emiciclo Garibaldi.
  • Last Sunday of the month: piazza d’Italia.
  • Hours: 8 am to 2 pm.

Before setting off, check for any cancellations or relocations: the venue may change when other events are taking place. For parking, see the guide to where to park in central Sassari.
