The Municipality of Sassari is allocating €480,000 to improve road safety at 129 locations across the area, including intersections and crossings. This is a widespread initiative aimed at making daily travel safer, with particular attention to the most delicate situations for pedestrians and motorists.
Work at 129 locations in Sassari
The project approved by the municipal administration will involve 129 intersections and crossings distributed across the urban center, neighborhoods and outlying areas.
The aim is to improve road safety and clarity through targeted works and better signage at the locations identified.
This is another step in the program dedicated to urban mobility. The issue is particularly important in a city where road safety remains one of the main challenges: according to the PIAO 2026-2028 of the Municipality of Sassari, in 2025 the Local Police recorded 1,325 accidents, compared with 1,356 the previous year. Fatal accidents, meanwhile, fell from six to four.
A €480,000 investment
A total of €480,000 is available to carry out the works, from ministerial funds earmarked for road safety.
The plan complements other projects launched in recent months to rethink roads, squares and mobility in the various neighborhoods. In Latte Dolce, for example, the project for the redevelopment of Piazza Amundsen was recently approved, while in the historic center the redevelopment of Piazza San Donato has been completed, with new spaces also dedicated to pedestrians and bicycles.
Road safety remains a priority
The new initiative comes at a time when Palazzo Ducale is working on several fronts, from roundabouts and 30 km/h zones to maintenance of the road network.
The plan for 129 intersections and crossings has one particular feature, however: it does not concentrate resources on a single major project, but distributes the work across numerous locations throughout the city.
A strategy aimed at addressing everyday, often highly localized problems while gradually improving the safety of the urban network.
