An increase in the night-work allowance and new financial recognition for those working in particularly difficult conditions. This is the substance of the pre-agreement reached on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at the Sassari Local Health Authority headquarters, at the end of negotiations on contractual resources for healthcare staff.
Night-shift allowance rises by 75%
The agreement provides for the night-shift allowance to rise from 4 to 7 gross euros for each hour worked. The increase is therefore 3 gross euros per hour, equivalent to 75 percent of the previous amount. For an employee working an average of 32 night hours per month, the allowance rises from 128 to 224 gross euros per month: the additional benefit is 96 euros per month, up to 1,152 gross euros over twelve months.
Up to 5 euros per day in the departments facing the greatest difficulties
The pre-agreement also introduces allowances linked to working conditions. Staff at the Medicine departments in Alghero and Ozieri, the SPDC and the RRF in Alghero will receive 5 gross euros for each day of actual attendance. Based on a simulation of 22 working days per month, the amount can reach 110 gross euros per month and 1,320 euros annually.
A second tier, amounting to 3 gross euros per day, applies to staff in Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Otorhinolaryngology and Urology. With 22 working days per month, the simulation comes to 66 gross euros per month, equivalent to 792 gross euros per year. The actual amounts will depend on the hours and days that qualify for the respective allowances.
Arrears from 1 January 2026
The new measures take effect from 1 January 2026. Following approval by the Board of Auditors, the organisation plans to pay the first six months of arrears with the October or, at the latest, November 2026 payslip. The balance should arrive with the January 2027 payslip. In the case of an average of 32 night hours per month, the higher allowance accrued during the first six months of the year is estimated at approximately 576 gross euros.
The Cisl Fp of Sassari attributes the result to the application of the provisions set out in the Healthcare National Collective Labour Agreement 2022–2024, signed on 27 October 2025. “This result did not come out of nowhere: it is the concrete consequence of a clear trade-union decision”, said general secretary Antonio Monni, describing the pre-agreement as a step set to translate into greater resources for staff.
For the secretariat and the RSUs present, Cecilia Nieddu and Vanna Pulina, discussions will have to continue with the renewal of the 2025–2027 national agreement. The stated aim is to reopen negotiations at company level in order to expand the redistribution of supplementary pay and assess increases for basic professional positions in the Area of Healthcare Professionals and Officials.
